Capparis spinosa, the caper bush, also called Flinders rose,[1] is a perennial winter-deciduous plant that bears rounded, fleshy leaves and large white to pinkish-white flowers. The plant is best known for the edible flower buds (capers), often used as a seasoning, and the fruit (caper berry), both of which are usually consumed pickled. Other species of Capparis are also picked along with C. spinosa for their buds or fruits. Other parts of Capparis plants are used in the manufacture of medicines and cosmetics.

Edward, I really like several of your recently posted pieces, especially this one, the pipe, the eggs, and the abacus. This one creates a sublime nostalgia for me. I can taste the metal of grandmother's old silver-plate spoons mixed with the saltiness of the capers. Superb lighting, composition, and focus. Excellent work! F

Thank Nadalyn, I've been helping my parents clean out for a permanent move to Florida. One of the benefits for me was receiving all kinds of great old stuff. By creating art with it, my parents can part with their collected things and yet still have access to them by seeing them here.
